A message from BIR President Tom Bird
Dear BIR Member,
The situation across the planet has unfolded in an unprecedented way, affecting our daily lives, our interaction with our friends and family, and also our businesses. In these trying times I want to reassure you that you can continue to count on BIR to be there for you and provide the full range of membership services and products.
The BIR staff in Brussels are working from home. But we are online and at your full disposal as ever. All emails are dealt with as swiftly as usual, and if you need to call in, you will be able to reach your contact via their individual mobile numbers that you can find on the person’s email signature. Our internal and external meetings are going ahead as teleconferences or conference calls, and since most organisations are also working from home now, the new means of virtual communication enable everybody to stay safe and at the same time efficient.
Therefore, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if there is something we can help you with.
We are also increasing our efforts to look into alternative means of bringing our members together, such as Webinars or interactive trading platforms. Please give us a little bit of time to find the best and most viable solutions but be assured that your business interests are well looked after at our end. This year’s Global Recycling Day will go ahead as planned but will mainly unfold on social media. While keeping everybody safe, we will still widely spread the important message that recycling is vital for the conservation of our planet.
Last but not least I would like to appeal to you to not forget that we all need each other, and that we are stronger as a community. Our work on your behalf continues as relentlessly as ever, and therefore we need you to keep up your commitment to BIR as an essential guardian of the global recycling industry’s interests.
Stay safe and in good health!
With my very best regards
